✦ Namib desert, Namibia
This is Franz, a Bushman from Namibia. On an extraordinary afternoon we drove and walked through his home – the Namib desert – and learned how much life is hidden underneath the sand. He taught us some of his survival skills like reading animal tracks, catching small lizards with bare hands, hiding drinking water in ostrich eggs and eventually he told us the fascinating story of how he got surprised by a leopard while collecting firewood only two days ago. Seeing nature through the eyes of a local gave us a hole new perspective on this extreme habitat. We ended the day sitting twenty meters away from a waterhole in the pitch dark watching a small herd of loudly farting mountain zebras – what an experience! Ps: the lizard didn´t end as a snack … this time.

✦ Namib-Naukluft NP, Namibia
Deserted landscapes offer the most beautiful sceneries even though sometimes there is not much to look at. But this actually helps not getting lost in details and offers a different perspective on things. While overlooking the Namib desert after climbing Dune 45 in the early morning we felt like the world has no boundaries and time has no meaning – plus it was a pretty good workout.

✦ Sossusvlei, Namibia
Deadvlei in Namibia is such a magical place: 500 year old trees turning into fossils and „Big Daddy“ – the world’s highest sanddune – in the back. We should feel grateful for living in a world full of wonders and enjoy it as much as we can.
